COVID-19

Dr. Juan Aguilera is closely monitoring the outbreak of the COVID-19 corona virus and is taking the necessary steps and precautions to reduce the risk to our patients and our community.  As of 3/19/2020, we are not aware of any confirmed corona virus cases in Hidalgo County, but this can change rapidly.

There is much you can do to lessen your chances of contracting the illness.  Wash your hands constantly throughout the day. Use napkins to open doors or to touch any hard items around you.  Avoid any physical contact such as hugs, kisses,  and shaking hands.  Avoid touching your face throughout the day.  Avoid all areas where there may be a concentration of 10 or more people and remember to maintain a distance of 6 feet between you and anyone around you. If at all possible, stay in your home as much as possible for the next two weeks and leave only if it’s absolutely necessary.

As your medical providers, we have implemented the following protocols to keep you safe:

We are only allowing one parent or guardian with the pt(s) in the office at a time. Well child visits, such as school physicals, are postponed for the next two weeks in order to not expose your well child to sick patients.

If you have a non-respiratory related sick visit, please call the office and let them know you are in the parking lot.  We will call you in when it is your turn and we will pass you straight to the next available room.

If you feel you have come into contact with someone who has a confirmed diagnosis or are exhibiting the symptoms of high fever, cough, body aches and general weakness please call ahead, alert the office you are on your way and then call again when you are in the parking lot. Wait in the car and we will either check you in from your car or move you right in to the next available exam room. As part of your exam we will test you for the most common and prevalent respiratory illnesses in order to rule them out, if they come back negative and If the medical provider deems you fit the criteria for possible exposure to covid-19 and are symptomatic we will run the covid-19 test if the physicians deems it necessary.  We have a limited number of covid-19 tests at our clinics should the provider deem it necessary to run the test.

We are also offering as an option telemedicine.  Telemedicine allows you to see one of our medical providers from the comfort of your home.  Telemedicine is available through the Healow app which can be downloaded for either android or apple  by visiting the apple store or google play from your device   The Healow app allows you to do many things including setting up an appt, ordering refills, review labs and do a telemedicine visit. If you or your child are feeling ill, you can set up a telemedicine visit from anywhere.  No need to drive to the clinic to see the doctor, use the app and we’ll go to you via a visit through your phone or tablet.

We are in this together, please do your part in limiting exposure to your family. Stay away from areas of high concentrations of people, constantly wash your hands and those of your kids, avoid touching your face and lastly, avoid social interactions such a hugs, kisses and handshakes. Lets also do our best and take care of our older family members as they are especially vulnerable to this virus.

These next two weeks can really make a difference if we all do our best and follow these guidelines..

We, the staff at Dr. Juan Aguilera’s office are here for you and your family. Please call or visit any one of our locations should you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely

Dr. Juan Aguilera & Staff
